12th Day

This Sunday 19th September was a day of prayer and discernment for the election of the Superior General and her Council.

The celebration of Holy Mass in the morning was the moment that, with the power of the Word of God and the Eucharist, prepared each of us to listen to the Holy Spirit. This profound listening continued through Sr. Pierina Scarmignan, Ursuline FMI.

Mother Francesca welcomed her and note also that the relic of our Blessed Mother Enrichetta is kept under the enthroned Word of God so that it may accompany us in these days of discernment. As a sign of continuity, she also kept our Constitutions and the Crucifix with the relic of the Holy Cross, which is handed down from one Superior General to another, as an expression of a journey that continues in history. This important event has also been communicated to all the provincial and delegate superiors so that each Sister may participate in prayer for this important event.

Then passing the word to Mother Pierina we were introduced to profound reflections rich in content.

Each of us has been called to be a small reflection of the wisdom and beauty of God: we were in fact created to live in relationship, in communion, the fruit of being in the Body of Christ. If we are new women “there” where we “go” we will be able to reveal love, friendship, tenderness and mercy.

So we should be concerned about one thing only: communion with God and with one another, being in the Church a sign and seed of communion among men.

In the afternoon, Sr. Pierina offered practical exercise on the election of the General Government in the light of Ignatian spiritual discernment.

On this day of silence, prayer and reflection we had the grace to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

LASA members of the Province of St. Joseph, Western India spent their day in the presence of the Lord praying for the success of the Chapter and for the infilling of the Holy Spirit on all the members of the Chapter.
