Opening Day
On this day, on which we celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we had the joy of the Innauguration of the 34th General Chapter.
The hymn to the Holy Spirit and the Opening Formula found in the hearts of the 54 Capitular Sisters, in the Generalate in Rome, a willing and responsible spirit for the task entrusted to them.

Inaugural Message of the General Chapter |
The words of hope and encouragement expressed by our Superior General, Mother Francesca Sarcia’s Opening Address were followed by the designation of the Officials of the Chapter. These are Sisters in-charge of specific offices for the daily conduct of the Chapter, namely:
Moderators: Sr. Jacintha Saldanha and Sr. Eulazia Fernandes
Secretary: Sr. Sabrina Pollini assisted by Mother Franceschina
Following the tradition of the institute, the two youngest sisters: Sr. Pamela Bongben (Cameroon) and Sr. Nanci Florenciana Alvarado Saldana (Peru) were designated as Scrutineers. These two scritineers, along with Sr. Juby, assigned as translator, took an oath before the Bible that they will maintain confidentiality for whatever they hear in the assembly.
At 6.45 pm the opening Mass was celebrated by Monsignor Giacomo Martinelli, Superior General and Founder of the Sons of the Cross, replacing Cardinal João Braz de Aviz, Prefect for the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life) . It was live streamed to give the opportunity for the other Sisters and for the laity to follow it virtually. The day ended with a delicate but delicious refreshment in the garden, enlivened by the joyful songs of the younger Sisters.
